Temporary Halt
So at this point I'm putting a temporary halt to scanning more scenes, as they may need to be re-scanned at greyscale rather than black & white. I'm also toying with the idea of possibly shading in each drawing with colored pencil, for a totally different look altogether. Since the story is being read from a childrens' book, it might be cool if the whole thing looked more hand-crafted. I'm going to do an experiment with both methods (digital ink-paint vs. colored pencil) and see which one looks best.

I did this when I was in colledge to my very first 2d animated short.
It took FOREVER!!!!

BE CAREFUL everyone to not click on the link posted above by the user "ditaur" . It's a supposedly "anti-virus" program for Windows XP , but it smelled like it was trying to install a virus (I'm on a Mac , so the little .exe file it tried to install didn't work , but if you're on a PC it may get you )

You could load your scanned animation drawings into TVP Animation and color them in TVP to get that hand-colored Prismacolor pencil look with the customized brushes you can make in TVP.
What were you using previously to scan ... Animo ?

What was the problem ? (I have a little experience with Animo , so I might have some light to shed)
Or did you just decide you wanted a different look to the piece so you're going to go with colored pencils like the Plympton example you showed ?
